ARTWALK Little India is a multi-disciplinary art festival that is held at Singapore’s cultural precinct of Little India that is happening from 19 January to the 23 January 2016.
It is a collaboration between LASALLE College of the Arts and Singapore Tourism Board, with the help of the Little India Shopkeepers & Heritage Association, this multi-sensory art experience aims to showcase all walks of life the rich history and traditions, as well as personal stories of the long-term residents of Little India.

This is the second year in a row where the festival showcases performances and installations by LASALLE’s students and alumni, as well as other established arts groups in Singapore.
They will not only be showcasing their artworks but also, performances, films and music throughout this exhibition as part of Singapore Art Week. Rachel, whom was one of the visitors at the Indian Heritage Centre says: ”I googled Singapore Arts Week and then they said that there’s something going on at Campbell lane. So, I decided to come and check it out.”

The mix of races is not a rare thing to be seen in Singapore and its actually deeply appreciated by many. This artwalk is designed specially to let people gain a deeper appreciation of the Indian Culture so that racial harmony can be achieved through art, stories and exploration.

Mrs Janehi Mahesh, from Hari Om Tailors believes that racial harmony is very important especially in a multi-racial country like Singapore as she says “Its because we have to live harmoniously. We have to blend in with each other’s culture, tradition. We have to recognize others’ religion and culture. I think that’s what makes Singaporean well-known for as well.”

This ARTWALK covers areas such as Campbell Lane, Buffalo Road, Belilios Lane, Upper Dickson Road and Clive Street Green where all 5 recommended locations consist of different sensory experiences that you can’t experience anywhere else.
Through your eyes, you’ll get to watch cinematic effects of Indian film and music imagery in 2D. Through your ears, you’ll get to listen to the melodious beats of traditional Indian percussion instruments or mixed fusions of Indian and Western styles of music.
